The city's location, in a valley located between two mountains - Mount Malarayat and Mount Makulot - makes it a low risk area. These two mountains serve as a wind breaker in times of typhoon. Mount Makulot at the western portion also served as shield of the city in times of eruption of Taal Volcano.
Lipa City is a major recreational, religious, commercial, industrial and educational center in central Batangas province, as shown with the presence in the city of entities like Nestle Philippines, De La Salle Lipa, The Nazareth School, the San Sebastian Cathedral (seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lipa), The Mabini Academy which was founded in 1922, the Carmelite Convent, Robinson's Place Lipa Mall, Mount Malarayat Golf and Country Club, Summit Point Golf and Country Club and SM City Lipa Mall. The City is also home to the Fernando Air Base, the former headquarters of the Philippine Air Force's 100th Training Wing and Air Education and Training Command (AETC) which is known in military circles as the Baguio of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The Team invites everyone to support their community project by sending copies of their questionnaire to other barangays. Since they may only be able to reach their own barangays as school children that they are, you can support them by downloading the questionnaire and forwarding it to your respective barangay officials. When you do, please email us to let us know which barangay you are sending it to so we may know which ones are already covered.
Coach Jun Katigbak of the Lipa City Aqua Phantom Warriors Swimming Team recently initiated a community project for the team called "Know Your Barangay". It aims to make them aware of their local government projects and plans and to find ways how they as citizens of their respective barangay or as a team can help support their local government in their own little way.
The Team will conduct interviews with their local officials to ask about projects and plans and how they will benefit barangay members. They will also take photos of businesses, residential areas and beautiful spots to come up with a road map that will help people from other barangays know more about them, where to find them and how to get there. This will hopefully increase investment interests and the tourism industry for their respective barangays and the City as a consequence.
