10 Commandments For Swimming Parents
By former Director of Club Services, USA Swimming (adapted from Ed Clendaniel’s 10 Commandments for Little League Parents) | MILESTONES By Coach Jun Katigbak
It is not beating the swimmers on the next lane, or beating the other teams, or beating the reigning fastest swimmer in your age group or level… It is all about beating the athlete within you. (full article) |

| | The Lipa City Aqua Phantom Warriors Swimming Team is a newly formed swimming club in Lipa. It encourages young children the passion and art of swimming. The club consists of young individuals who enjoy swimming as a hobby. They discipline themselves with the values of inspiration, determination, and commitment. These children came from different schools here in Lipa City enjoying the company of other children they meet from different places. Spearheaded by their coach, Coach Florante “Jun” Katigbak jr., the team is able to compete here and around the Calabarzon area and Manila. They not only represent the Lipa City Aqua Phantom Warriors Swimming Team, they also represent their respective schools and the City of Lipa at any invitational meet which the Philippine Amature Swimming Association (PASA) and Southern Tagalog Athletic Swimming Association (STASA) hold. | These children spent their after-school time training at the Lipa City Community Park swimming pool in Granja. From 5 pm till 7 pm, Monday to Saturday rain or shine. They want to beat the best of themselves. The challenges they encounter, the stress and the pressures they had to endure are just a small fraction of what these children had to overcome for the values of being an athlete. With their determination and perseverance, they dedicated themselves to the sport. These children also had to maintain good grades in their respective schools as one of the requirements of the club to maintain membership.
| Happy Moments with the Lipa City Aqua Phantom Warriors Swimming Team on a scrapbook presented by the team to their Coach Jun Katigbak. | | Community Project | The Team invites everyone to support their community project by sending copies of their questionnaire to other barangays. Since they may only be able to reach their own barangays as school children that they are, you can support them by downloading the questionnaire and forwarding it to your respective barangay officials. When you do, please email us to let us know which barangay you are sending it to so we may know which ones are already covered.

Coach Jun Katigbak recently initiated a community project for the team called "Know Your Barangay". It aims to make them aware of their local government projects and plans and to find ways how they as citizens of their respective barangay or as a team can help support their local government in their own little way.
The Team will conduct interviews with their local officials to ask about projects and plans and how they will benefit the barangay members. They will also take photos of businesses, residential areas and beautiful spots to come up with a road map that will help people from other barangays know more about them, where to find them and how to get there. This will hopefully increase investment interests and the tourism industry for their respective barangays and the City as a consequence. |
